[소셜밸류=박완규 기자] Uglee Lab has joined hand with ECONNECT to promote waste-based circular economy.

On the 7th, Uglee Lab announced that it signed a strategic MOU with ECONNECT to encourage waste-based circular economy.

Both companies have agreed to develop products using eco-friendly recycled materials after effectively collecting and transporting waste. The cooperative R&D on recycled materials and products from industrial and daily waste is expected to foster a circular economy.

The MOU is projected to set a new paradigm for the circular economy as both companies are supported by Korea Environmental Industry & Technology Institute (KEITI) and Seoul Business Agency (SBA) for their growth.

Uglee Lab provides ‘Today’s Collection’ solutions to collect, transport and categorize waste. Its key clients are the public and businesses including toss and FASTFIVE. It utilizes vision AI technology to continuously collect database of waste, building a precise resource circular solution.

Now, ECONNECT offers ‘Regenport’ solutions to develop recycled materials and final products from waste. Its major clients are various businesses including E-MART, Yuhan-Kimberly and OURHOME. In particular, it integrates a waste database with artificial intelligence to build precise materials and products, fostering a sustainable circular economy.

These two companies aim to bring not only environmental value but also economic value by building a sustainable circular economy model through effective waste recycling and the development of eco-friendly materials.

Hoseong Seo, the CEO of Uglee Lab, said, “We expect not only collecting waste but also turning it into valuable resources through collaboration with ECONNECT. Together, we will build a systematic circular economy model.”

Minhyung Jo, the CEO of ECONNECT, said, “We will focus on upcycling the waste rather than just disposing of collected waste through cooperation with Uglee Lab. The partnership will help us put more effort into expanding a waste database and developing products and traceable materials.”

Meanwhile, along with the MOU, ECONNECT aims to manufacture and supply Uglee Lab’s proprietary MRO products (consumable materials and supplies) using their collected waste through ‘Regenport’ solution within the second quarter.
