[소셜밸류=박완규 기자] A high-pressure washing machine, the world's first invention tailored for washing reusable cups and lids, has been approved for a patent.
On the 22nd, Trashbusters announced that a TSWM (Trashbusters Sustainable Washing Machine), a high-pressure washing machine designed to clean reusable cups and lids, has been successfully granted a patent in Korea.
Trashbusters is the first startup in Korea to offer a reusable tableware rental service to take on the problem of disposable waste. It provides reusable tableware to various institutions including in-house café, office pantries, festivals, movie theaters, and café. The reusable tableware is then collected, thoroughly cleaned, sanitized, and then provided to other users again, reducing the amount of waste produced through its resource circulation capability.
Since its foundation in 2019, Trashbusters has offered its service to 130 enterprises and 250 festivals, reducing 57 million disposable waste.
TSWM, the patent-granted machine, will pave the way for business in circular resources at a reasonable price compared to disposable products. It will provide high-quality and effective result by thoroughly automating the process of cleaning reusable cups.
The key functions of the product are △high-pressure and high-temperature cleaning, △automation of detecting sizes and sorting, △compatibility with various sizes of cups, △a five-nozzle rotating spray system, and △resource-saving.
The machine cleans both inside and outside of the cup with up to 100 bar pressure and 90oC temperature. Cups are automatically placed into the washing machine once their sizes are detected by a sensor. Then, angles and pressure of the nozzle are adjusted to thoroughly sanitize cups of varying sizes, from 10oz to 22oz. The nozzle moves up and down to remove impurities, and water is recycled through the pump, minimizing the amount of water usage.
The invention could clean up to 10,800 cups per hour, replacing the traditional manual cleaning method.
The TSWM is also a solution that automates the process of cleaning cups and lids used in various areas, including franchise café, fast-food restaurants, and other restaurants and reduces the cost of washing tableware while replacing the human labor force. As the service provides cost-effective alternatives compared to traditional manual cleaning methods, Trashbusters plans to build a foundation to increase the usage of reusable tableware.
Trashbusters wants its invention more than just the washing machine; it aims to come up with solution that brings circular economy to life, practically protects environment by using it more frequently, and fosters the development of new technology in the field of washing machine business, all of which creates a sustainable environment.
Kwak Jae Won, the CEO of Trashbusters, said, “The invention of TSWM will contribute to reducing disposable products and encourage transition to resource circular economy. As the service market faces a decreasing workforce and rising labor costs, Trashbusters aims to serve as a key substitute in one of the 3D industries, such as washing.”
Meanwhile, Trashbusters not only plans to offer a new service model with its patent in franchise stores and the washing industry, but also aims to adopt sustainable technology for the future.
