[소셜밸류=김완묵 기자] The Metropolitan Government of Seoul (‘Seoul’) and Seoul Business Agency(SBA, CEO Hyun Woo Kim), an agency supporting SMEs in Seoul, are holding the Try Everything 2023 ‘Korea Challenge’ contest and recruiting participants to test the business potential of startups before entering the global market and to enhance their competitiveness.
‘Try Everything’ is a global startup festival in which global startup players, such as promising startups, Mid·Large Enterprises, investors, and accelerators. Seoul has been hosting it every September since 2020 to vitalize Seoul's startup ecosystem.
‘Try Everything 2023’ will take place for 3 days from September 13th(Wed) to September 15th(Fri) at Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) Art Hall.
‘Korea Challenge’ is a contest for startups seeking chances to enter the global market.
Any startup with either headquarters or branch located in Seoul with 3 to 7 years in business can participate in the contest.
The 10 finalists will receive certificates and total grants of 120 million KRW (approx. $92,300) as a global commercialization support fund, commensurate to their ranks. The 10 finalists will be provided with an online ·offline promotion booth during Try Everything 2023.
Especially, the startups ranked in first and second place will also receive ‘Seoul Startup Hub Gongdeok Residency Recommendation.’ The final round of ‘Korea Challenge’ will be held on the third day of Try Everything 2023, Friday, September 15th, at DDP. After the final round, the announcement of the final rank and award ceremony is going to take place together in the ‘Try Everything Awards.’
The application for Try Everything 2023 Korea Challenge is open until 4 pm on July 19th(Wed), the announcement and application can be done online on the integrated Seoul startup platform, ‘Startup Plus’. Any regarding inquiries can be submitted to the SBA startup policy team.
Meanwhile, Seoul announced the plan to elevate Try Everything as the biggest global investment festival with 'Seoul Startup Policy 2030' and stated that from 2024, the recruitment target will be extended to domestic and international startups, and increase the size of the prize to 300 million KRW by 2026.
Jong Woo Kim, the Director of SBA Startup Division mentioned, “As Try Everything is planning to step up as a global event, Korea Challenge is projected to gain more respect as a global contest. I hope Korea Challenge will be a chance to test the business potential of startups as well as a door to advertise the startups and a successful debut stage for leaping to be a global company.”
