[소셜밸류=김하임 기자] Gole Robotics (CEO Lee DongMin), developing an early morning delivery service for construction materials at construction sites utilizing autonomous robots, announced the signing of an MOU with Professor Dennis Hong, a robotics professor at UCLA RoMeLa, on April 22, 2024 at Grand InterContinental Seoul Parnas in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, South Korea, for a business agreement in the field of construction robots.
Gole Robotics is a startup that has been attracting attention in the construction and robotics fields, having successfully attracted investment from Silicon Valley VCs in September 2023. In particular, Chae HoSik, CTO of Gole Robotics, a PhD from UCLA RoMeLa, who is in charge of robot development, has been working hand-in-hand with Professor Dennis Hong for eight years, so it is expected that the collaboration will draw practical and effective synergies. This will strengthen Gole Robotics' human and technical network with the world's leading robotics lab to develop more robust robots.
The two organizations will collaborate with the goal of joint development and winning 2024 national R&D projects. In particular, the organizations are interested in researching autonomous robots for transporting construction materials that can be universally applied to construction sites, and the development of a plant model targeting the United States and an infrastructure model targeting Korea is the key. The plant model is optimized for the construction of factories that major Korean conglomerates such as semiconductor factories, secondary battery factories, and automobile factories are trying to build in North America, while the infrastructure model is optimized for underground roads and railways such as railroad undergrounding and GTX, Gole Robotics explains.
Gole Robotics has completed its incorporation in the U.S. with the goal of conducting field tests at more than two construction sites in North America this year. Gole Robotics also aims to become a game changer in the North American construction market, where there is a shortage of more than 500,000 construction workers.
