[소셜밸류=김완묵 기자] VMIC(CEO Kyohoon Nam) announced on the 20th that it became the first Korean company to arrange a global financing deal for an aircraft engine, and it will sign a lease manager contract for the engine. 

 

The deal was arranged in a way that VMIC self-sourced the V2500 engine operated by a Mexican airline Viva Aerobus, secured rights of assets, and sold them to Japanese investors.

 

In addition to the deal arrangement, VMIC was recognized for its technology expertise and assigned as the lease manager of the asset. It will manage the lease of the engine during the term. 

 

V2500 engine is the engine equipped in the A320 Family. Its asset value has been constantly increasing as the demand for Narrow-body aircraft soared since COVID-19 and the supply of engines for the aircraft cannot keep up with the demand.

 

This is the first case in which a Korean corporation discovered an aircraft engine and arranged a deal for it. It created a new record of engine investment in the Korean aircraft finance industry that used to focus only on aircraft investment.

 

VMIC is in progress to promote the AircraftSTO consortium. If VMIC is selected as an Innovative Financial Service this year, VMIC will launch the first aircraft STO in the world. It is also putting all effort into preparing for the operation of an engine-sharing service by securing multiple aircraft engines by utilizing its aircraft asset sourcing and technology management ability. 

 

VMIC mentioned that through its efforts, it will try its best to enhance the competitiveness of the Korean aircraft industry and reward investors with high return on investment. 

 

The CEO stated, “Through the deal arrangement and contract, VMIC proved its expertise in aviation technology to the market, and multiple leasing companies, finance organizations, and airlines, domestic and international, that heard the news have been suggesting cooperation.”
